Today was Lily's 2nd birthday. I can't believe how fast the past 2 years have gone by. It seems like yesterday when Tom & I headed to the hospital for her arrival. She has quickly gone from helpless little baby to independent toddler whose favorite word is "no" and favorite phrase is "I don't want to." Soon we'll be sending her off to college. I have to remind myself of my goal as a parent: to raise well-adjusted, independent kids. And each day going forward means one day closer to the day they won't need us as parents anymore. It's bittersweet. In the meantime, I strive to live in the present and truly enjoy every minute I'm blessed to spend with them both.
Today we celebrated our 2 year old's birthday with a trip to Chuck-E-Cheese. We wanted a small gathering; her grandparents, Uncle Mark, Shannon & William and Aunt Paula & Aaliyah joined us. I'll never forget the look on her face tonight - she was just so happy.
There's no stopping her growing up, but she will always be my little girl.
