Nate's big development spurt

Nate has gone from being a quiet little helpless baby to a crawling, babbling and bustling baby, just over the last few weeks.    Here are some things he's done

  • Crawling.   He's doesn't have it down yet, but it's improving.    Even when he resorts to the army crawl, he has no problem moving.
  • Sit up.  Nate already does this like a pro.
  • Babbling.  Cindy was happy when he started saying 'Ma ma ma ma' to get attention.   Then a few days later he started saying 'Da da da' too.    It might not be real words, but rather just playing with phoneme's.  Still, it's fun to hear.   It also made Cindy's week/month/year that he said 'Ma ma' first.  (For the record, Lily said 'da da' first.)
  • Knee up/Stand up.   He wanted to look into a tub of blocks (and bite the side of the tub), so he pulled himself up on his knees to the rim.    Later he got to his feet.  It was hunched over and wobbly, but it was a first step.
He's also started taking short (30 to 60 minute) naps regularly throughout the day.   Sleep is the time when what we learn is stored into long term memory, so our assumption is that this is a side effect of the development spurt.

Finally, the greatest part of all this is getting to know his personality, which can be best described as endless energy, perseverance and always easy going.    Nate will crawl across the room to pick up something shiny.  Then when you take it away, because it's something that could hurt him -- he never complains.  He's already off looking for the next thing.
