The 18th is going to be great, and it could even be historic

If all goes well, my son should be born on March 18th, early in the morning.   Even with that knowledge, it doesn't make the event the least bit anti-climactic.   The clear and present nature of this event, one week + 1 day away, makes it very real.    I trust that this will be a great moment for Cindy, Lily, myself, along with family and friends.

What truly could make the day historic, is the passage of health care reform in Congress.    It looks like that's the day targeted for passage of what I consider to be the most important political event in my lifetime.   The history of healthcare reform goes back practically 100 years, is at least 50 years overdue and has been in a crisis state for the past 20 - even before the last major effort to change things in 1993.   This is a historic moment, probably comparable to the passage of Social Security back in the 1930's.

It won't do much to make the world a better place, but it will offer a bit more security and sanity, that was long overdue.
